SAULT STE. MARIE, ON. - The North Bay and District Pee Wee AAA Trappers played the Soo Jr. Greyhounds last weekend in Sault Ste. Marie in a best-of-three playoff series.

In game one, North Bay played a strong first two periods. With the first place Greyhounds taking a 1-0 lead into the third. However, in the third the wheels fell off of the Trapper game plan and the teamwork that had been so strong up to that point disappeared. The Soo scored 6 unanswered goals and won 7-0. Shots on goal were 29 apiece.

In game two, the Trappers put game one behind them and came back with their best game of the season.

The Trappers won 5-2 with goals coming from Lucas Brown, Josh Ibbitson, Alec Shaw, Steven Leveque and Cohen Allison. Assists went to Adam Fulton, Allison, Corey Tremblay, Tyler Peters, Grant Hatherley, Leveque, Shaw and Brown. The Soo outshot the Trappers 33-32.

"The players executed the systems they have been working on all year to perfection, and our goalie Adam D'Agostino had his best game of the season. The result was a very exciting playoff win against a strong Soo team," said head coach John Couch.

The rubber match came Sunday morning. The Trappers came out flying and the period ended 0-0. The Soo won the second period however and came out of it with a 3-1 lead. North Bay's goal came from Traven Reed and the assist went to Leveque. Midway through the third the Greyhounds notched their fourth and that was how it ended with a 4-1 win for the Soo. The Greyhounds outshot the Trappers 32-22.
The learning curve has been sharp this year for the North Bay and District Pee Wee age group getting back into AAA this season, but both the Soo coaches and League officials at the weekend games praised the Trapper coaching Staff of John Couch, Mike Reise, Jamie Young, Todd Robillard and Chris Fulton for the the marked improvement made by this team since the start of the season.

The Trappers will be practicing and playing exhibition games until the NOHA Tournament of Champions in Sudbury mid March.
