Pats and Bears victorious in NDA junior football action

The Franco-Cité Patriotes junior football team opened it's season with a 37-0 victory over the Algonquin Barons on Thursday afternoon in North Bay.

Colin Vézina, Alex Gagné, Denver Kitching, Phil Fortin and Nickolas Lebeau found the end zone for the Patriotes.  Fortin also added a safety.  Eric Lafrance had four converts for the Patriotes.

Both teams are back in action next week as the Patriotes host the Widdifield Wildcats on Thursday at 4pm in Sturgeon Falls.  The Barons will host the Chippewa Raiders at 3:30pm on Friday.

 In other junior action the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears dumped Widdifield 27-13.   

Nathan Folk led the Bears offence with a pair of touchdowns.  Riley lavergne and Ian Denomme also scored majors for the winners. 

Sean Facette was responsible for both touchdowns for the Wildcats in the loss.
