The Canadore Panthers defeated the visiting Sheridan College Bruins 3-0 in OCAA Volleyball Action Friday night (25-19, 25-12, 25-13). The Panthers took a 10-2 lead in the first set and never looked back.

“Our blocking was a key factor in the win," said team captain Andre Guindon.

"Peter Clifford had a huge presence at the net tonight. We are a good team and have battled in all of our games this year. It feels great to finally put one in the win column.

"The energy was great both on and off the court tonight. We have a great week of practices and transferred that momentum into the game. We finally got past all of the mental errors and played a complete game” said Panther assistant coach Bill Morin.

“Our newly appointed Libero Sebastien Bouchard was solid all game long.”

Lady Panthers mauled by Bruins

The Lady Panther’s had a promising 9-1 lead in the first set but were defeated 3-0 by the Bruins (19-25, 12-25, 13-25). “The women have to decide if they want to play. Their focus was severely lacking tonight and I am very disappointed with the efforts” stated Panther coach Diane Clarke. Heidi Grusas was the lead scorer for the Bruins with 14 offensive points (11 kills, 3 serving aces). Kilah Rolle added 13 points for the Bruins with 8 kills, and 5 stuff blocks. Danielle Mills was the leading scorer for the Panthers with 6 offensive points (3 kills, 2 stuff blocks, 1 serving ace).
