After placing 4th in the NDHL Atom A league play the Ritchie Bros Novice A Vipers finished their season with a silver medal at the NDHL playoffs this past weekend with an exciting final game vs ACT. With less than 5 minutes to go, the Vipers were leading the match 4-3, but eventually succumbed to a 5-4 loss.

After an opening loss to the Hilltop Atom 'AA' team on the Thursday night the Vipers were forced to win their next two playoffs games in order to make the semi-final round, which they did by defeating the New Liskeard Puckhounds 3-2 and the West Nipissing Sting 8-4, advancing the Vipers to a semi-final match against the league’s 2nd place Powassan Hawks. The semi-final match was a fast paced, action packed game with the Vipers coming out ahead with a 3-2 win. The Vipers finished the game’s final minutes with a man in the penalty box and the Powassan goalie pulled for an extra attacker. Their semi-final win advanced the Vipers to the NDHL Championship game against the Atom A ACT team.

Congratulations to the Viper team for an outstanding season! Tournament wins for the team this season included: the E. N. Novice Rep Tournament, Huntsville Novice Rep Tournament, Glen Bellersby Novice ‘AA' Tournament in Barrie, Sudbury Silver Stick Novice ‘AA' Regional Tournament and the NOHA Novice ‘AA' Tournament of Champions in Timmins. The Vipers topped off their season with an NDHL Atom 'A' league silver medal. Way to go Vipers!
