At the Atom, Peewee and Bantam races on Saturday the club showed why they have one of the strongest development programs in the Province. Adam Arthurs, Will Mcfarlane, Adam D’Agostino, Alec Shaw and Gavin McGirr led the way with three first place ribbons each in C-1, C-2, C-4 and K2 and K-4 events while Zaffia and Zeyana Laplante picked up a couple of first place ribbons in their K-2 and K-4 events.

Dagmar D’agostino and Jaydan Jackson chipped in with second and third place ribbons in their K-1, K-2 and K-4 events while Brittany Pask, Holly Ryan and Jeremy Robinson finished up with strong third place showings and Mathew Robinson placed top six in their respective K-1, K2 and K-4 events.

On Sunday, the open C-4 team of John Blackadar, Alex Lachance, Ben Robitaille, and Marc Charron were golden while Blackadar picked up a silver in a fine C-1 race. John Wilkinson picked up a promising fourth in midget C-4 while Dylan Jackson and Marc Charron were solid fifth place finishers in their 2Km individual K-1 and C-1 events. Andrew Vierich cracked the top eight in a number of his events including C-1 and C-2.

Next up for the Canoe Club is the EOD trials in Kingston this weekend while the Atoms, Peewee and Bantams are hosting the Eastern Ontario championships here in North Bay on August 4th at Olmstead Beach. The public is invited to come out and cheer on some of the best young paddlers in the province. Start time for the championships is 9:00 a.m.
