The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League is once again looking for a new commissioner. The league made the announcement on the NOJHL website. North Bay Lawyer Wayne Stickland took the position last season but took a leave of absence from the position late in the season before officially stepping down in early May due to family reasons.

Stickland took over the position from Art Yeo.

Hec Seguin, the league's chief operating officer, stated in a press release that the league hopes to have a new commissioner in place before the start of the 2007-2008 season.

The new commish may be in for quite a challenge as the league could lose another franchise before the start of the new season.

Reports from RR media indicate that after one season owner of the Soo Indians, New York land developer Charles Perdicaro, is trying to sell the franchise. The report claims Perdicaro has given his championship coach Kevin Cain first right of refusal. Cain apparently is working hard to try and round up investors to keep the franchise alive in the American Soo.

The league has also been looking into expanding into Ville Marie, Quebec but the Quebec community only has until late June to organize the bid or it may have to be pushed back to next season.
