The champions receive a silver chalice to raise high over their heads, the result of teamwork and execution mixed with creativity and strategic thinking, and it’s all about hockey, but this isn’t Lord Stanley’s Cup, this is the Nipissing Business Challenge (NBC) Bowl.

Nipissing University introduced a new competition for high school business students. Students competed by solving business case studies and presenting their findings to a panel of judges. The case in this year’s competition involves marketing the new Nipissing University Lakers Ontario University Athletics Men’s Varsity hockey team. It was written by professor Denyse LaFrance Horning and adapted for high school use by Dr. Glenn Brophey, both faculty members in Nipissing’s School of Business and Economics. Judges include Laker’s hockey team personnel and professors from Nipissing’s School of Business and Economics.

The competition took place on Thursday at Nipissing University. More than 50 local students from Algonquin, Chippewa, and West Ferris Secondary Schools participated in the day-long event.
