Tom Hedican promised he would say thank you to all the coaches who have helped the Coach4Food program.

Well, he's delivered with St. Louis Blues Associate Coach and North Bay Native Mike Yeo who will be meeting with coaches who have participated in Coach4Food over the past decade.

Yeo will hold a question/answer session, at noon on Wednesday, August 3rd in D236 at Canadore College.

Yeo has been a big supporter of the Coach4Food program.

In 2009, when Yeo brought the Stanley Cup to North Bay when he as an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins,

That was the first time Hedican met Yeo and on that Stanley Cup celebration day, Yeo took time to thank Hedican for running the program.

Hedican was flattered to realize the successful NHL coach was following the Coach4Food program he created.

"Mike has been a great supporter of Coach4Food and it will be an amazing opportunity for local coaches to ask a world-class coach any question they want," said Coach4Food Founder Tom Hedican.

"When I asked him to do this, he immediately said yes, even though he has very limited time at home in the summer in North Bay. It just tells you who he is as a person."

"I am thrilled to have such a successful coach, and outstanding person, support the Coach4Food Program, and help our local coaches," said Hedican.

Coach4Food has now raised more than 1.3 million pounds of food in Ontario, in partnership with the Ontario Hockey League's Shutout Hunger Program, with nearly half that amount being raised in North Bay for the North Bay Food Bank, and other local food banks.

Yeo will assume the head coaching duties in 2017-18 from retiring coach Ken Hitchcock, winner of an Olympic Gold medal and Stanley Cup. Hitchcock has also been a big contributor to the Coach4Food Program, supplying NHL jerseys, his own Team Canada jersey, and tickets to NHL games for auction.

While 2015 was the last year for practices run by Hedican, Coach4Food will continue in 2016 in North Bay as it does in other OHL cities, with the top three collecting teams receiving a practice from the North Bay Battalion.

Wednesday's meeting is open only to coaches, managers and assistants who have participated in Coach4Food during the past decade.

Any Coach4Food supporters planning on attending are asked to to confirm it with Tom Hedican at [email protected] in case the room they booked is too small.
