In their final regular season match, the Widdifield Wildcats and West Ferris Trojans battled Wednesday evening in NDA Junior Boys soccer action at the Trojan Alumni Complex.

The Wildcats got on the board early in the first half off a well struck free kick by Jesse Moreau that just got by the outstretched arms of Trojans goalkeeper Spencer Brear. The Trojans responded with Trent Robinson placing a shot off the cross bar and into the Wildcat net, squaring the match at 1-1 going into the second half.

After some great back and forth action to begin the second half, Robinson broke the tie off a free kick that he placed just inside the post and out of reach for Wildcats netminder Ryan Phillipson. The Wildcats continued their pressure for the remainder of the game, but Brear responded with a couple of diving saves to preserve the 2-1 win for the Trojans.

With the win, the Trojans maintained their unbeaten regular season, clinched first place, and a bye into the semi-finals next week. The Wildcats will next see action in the quarter-final game next week against the Algonquin Barons.
