Moore's 7 goals leads U13A Trappers to NDHL championship

The North Bay Trappers U13A are NDHL champions for the 2023-2024 season as they defeated the Kirkland Lake Blue Devils 9-5.  

After a competitive season with many tight and heated battles with their rival Kirkland Lake Blue Devils, the two teams went head to head again, but this time for the gold medal in Sturgeon Falls Sunday afternoon highlighted by an impressive seven-goal performance by the Trappers Jordon Moore. 

Moore opened the scoring in the first period with a hat trick in the first four minutes and 30 seconds of the game. 

That didn’t stop the Blue Devils, responding with four straight goals to take the lead 4-3 in the second period.

In a back-and-forth game, Jordon Moore of the Trappers responded with 2 more goals to restore the Trappers lead to 5-4, only to see the Blue Devils tie the game 5-5 to end the second period. 

Entering the third period, Moore was not done yet. 

In his first shift of the third period, he sniped two more goals to put the Trappers ahead for good and complete a streak of 7 straight goals for his team to start the game.

The Trappers Owen Smith and Max Villeneuve added 2 more goals in the 3rd period to fight off the Blue Devils and secure the championship and a 9-5 win. 

Team members include: Jordon Moore, Owen Smith, Max Villeneuve, Ben Belfitt, Brenner Kistemaker, Cade Bechtel, Emerson Turner, Hayden Morris, Hudson Hayne, Lz Dunford, Jake Kidd, Kingsley Hutchison, Luke Rowe, Mckille Larose, Mya Kimber, Noah Walkling and Trayven Brunette. 

Coaches are: Steve Hayne, Richard Rowe, Mike Bechtel, Craig Larose and Jeff Smith.
