Missing Hockey Memorabilia

It’s been gone for nearly five years but Les Couchie wants it back.
It’s been gone for nearly five years but Les Couchie wants it back.

Couchie says a 3 x 3 sign with the autographs of former NHL greats was taken from the walls of his Union of Ontario Indians office more than five years ago and has not been seen since.

“Whenever we did golf tournaments or whenever we had guests come to the Union of Ontario Indians or 7th Generation Charity we had them sign it so we had signatures from guys like Frank Mahovolich, Red Kelly, Bobby Hull, Jean Beliveau a whole slew of the greats of the game that people my age can remember in the 1960’s and 1950’s,” said Couchie.

It’s easy to figure out where the item came from as it has a very distinctive 7th Generation Charity logo in the top left hand corner of the piece of memorabilia.

The 7th Generation Charity is an official charitable-fundraising arm of the Anishinabek First Nation. Through the charity Couchie has brought hockey greats like Johnny Bower to North Bay for fundraising events.

That sign with the charity logo and all the autographs means a lot to Couchie.

“I’m just hoping that by doing this that someone’s memory might be jogged or they have seen it and may help in returning it back to the rightful owners of the 7th Generation Charity,” he said.

Anyone with any information relating to this unique piece of stolen hockey memorabilia is asked to call the Anishinabek Police, Ontario Provincial Police or the Union Of Ontario Indians.
