OTTAWA, ON. - The North Bay Midget AAA Trappers opened up the Ottawa Senators Midget AAA Showcase Tournament with a 1-0 win over the Ottawa Valley Titans.

The Trappers came out very emotional with 11 players fighting the flu bug that hit them this week. The Trappers were also short 3 veterans (Dakota Barnhardt, Michel Bedard and Anthony Trozzo) who were serving suspensions.

Mitchell Knight was solid in net for the shutout and was the MVP for the Trappers.

The Trappers lone goal came from the stick of Scott Pawson after an excellent effort from Cody Levasseur who was tripped up at centre ice and dove to knock the puck forward to Pawson. Killing off a penalty in the last 1:50 of the third period was critical as most of this time was played in the Trappers end of the ice with the last 1:20 being a 6 on 4 advantage for Ottawa.

The Trappers also played there most disclinped game of the season; receiving only 8 penalty minutes.
