This past week has been an exciting one. Throughout a five day span the Trappers proved triumphant in all three of their matchups. It wasn’t always pretty, by any means, but we did pull through. I was even lucky enough to get the overtime winner last Wednesday night against Blind River. My first goal this year, and I’m glad it came when it did. When you are used to playing strictly a shut down defence type of game, like me, it’s always a great feeling when you score a big goal.

It has seemed that as of late, our work ethic right off the hop, has been tremendous, especially this last week. For the first 20 minutes our team has come out flying and were virtually unstoppable, giving up very few shots against and creating many scoring opportunities for. Now we must focus on maintaining that effort throughout the full 60 minutes of play. Any team who can put on a hard, honest effort for 60 minutes has the best chance of walking away winners.

“Play with a chip on your shoulder,” says coach, and he is absolutely right. Playing with that unrelenting passion and grit is what takes teams to the next level and makes other teams scared. From what I have been told North Bay is and always has been a playoff team. I see no reason why that would change this year. We not only have the skill, but the character necessary for a championship team.

Will it be easy? No way! Working your - you know what off - for a championship makes it that much sweeter once you go the distance. The team is aware of what kinks need to be worked out and that’s the first step. Now as long as we practice, practice, practice and buy into the systems that are coached to us, those wins we need at desperate times will be well within reach.

Can’t wait for next week! Enjoy the remainder of your week.

GO! Trappers! GO!
