Local team to take part in Northern Ontario Men's Curling Championships

The teams competing for the 2016 Travelers Insurance Northern Ontario Men's Curling Championship to be held at the North Bay Granite Club  February 10-14, 2016 is now complete. 

That includes one local team skipped by Patrick Gelinas from Mattawa.  

Gelinas, who plays out of the Voyageur Curling Club, was one of three teams that qualified this weekend at the east qualifier this weekend at the Idylwylde G. & C.C. in Sudbury. The other two qualifiers include Team Jordan Chandler  (Sudbury C.C). and  the Robbie Gordon foursome (Sudbury C.C.).

Among the the other participating teams will be Canada's reigning Olympic Champions; the 2015 winners of the Players' Championship and the recent winners of the Pinty's' Skins Event in Banff Alberta- the Brad Jacobs foursome from the Community First Curling Club in Sault Ste. Marie. 

Also qualifying thru the Canadian Team Ranking System is Team Colin Koivula from Thunder Bay (Port Arthur C.C.). Qualifying from the western portion our province (NOCA) held in Port Arthur are the teams skipped by Mike Assad (Geraldton C.C.); Dylan Johnston Thunder Bay (Fort William C.C.) and Tanner Horgan (Copper Cliff C.C.). 

Ticket sales for the 5 day championship in North Bay are going extremely well. Fans are encouraged to get their event tickets from the North Bay Granite Club 2624 Trout Lake Road, North Bay or by calling Bobby Ray @ the Club @ 705-472-6740 ASAP.

The full week passes are $80.00 and a very limited number of VIP seats are available for $125.00.

The winner of the 2016 Travelers Insurance Northern Ontario Men's Curling Championship will qualify for the Tim Hortons Brier in Ottawa March 5-13, 2016.
