The North Bay Adult synchronized skating team New Edition has qualified to compete at the 2007 BMO Financial Group Skate Canada Synchronized Championships February 21-25 in Chicoutimi, Quebec. This is the first time a team in this category has qualified to represent North Bay at this level. The team qualified during the Central Regional Festival of Synchronized Skating competition held at Memorial Gardens in North Bay last weekend.

This team consists of 18 women from North Bay and area between 20 and 35 years of age. They have been training twice a week since September with practices often as far away as Powassan and South River. "Getting ice time on Sundays in North Bay has been a real challenge for our team this year. There is a shortage of ice availability on the weekends with all the hockey tournaments the city hosts," says Jennifer Fisher Bradley, Team Captain.

Team Manager Kelly Smirle says the team would like to encourage any donations from the public to help pay the expenses for this trip. "This was so unexpected; we don't have very much time to pull funds together," Smirle says.
