Five local ringette players - all members of the West Ferris Ringette Association - as well as the Northeastern Region Select Belle AAA squad, will be in action this weekend in Cambridge for their second Challenge Cup of the season. Alexandra Parker, Amanda Storie, Courtney Whitwell, Janelle Martin and Sarah Trottier, will face rivals from five other Ontario regions in this elite showcase event which includes five round robin games as well as the AAA skills competition at the National Ringette League All-Star game Saturday night.

Every second year, the six Ontario regions chose their most outstanding players to form regional all-star teams. These players represent their respective regions (Northwest, Northeast, Central, Eastern, Southern and Western) at the Ontario Winter Games in Barrie in March. During the season, they also compete in three Challenge Cup tournaments in addition to the OWG. To participate, the players must play on a provincial level team. All West Ferris players are playing this season with Valley East Belle AA.

Their next Challenge Cup will be in two weeks in Burlington; they will play in Gloucester in mid-February with the Belle AA squad.
