Local Figure skaters shine in the Soo

Sault Ste. Marie. ON - The North Bay Figure Skating club sent five competitors to the Skate Canada Northern Ontario Festival of Stars 2010 STARskate Championships held this weekend, February 12 to 14th in Sault Ste Marie.
Sault Ste. Marie. ON - The North Bay Figure Skating club sent five competitors to the Skate Canada Northern Ontario Festival of Stars 2010 STARskate Championships held this weekend, February 12 to 14th in Sault Ste Marie.

Lindsay Goodridge competed in the Senior Silver Free Skate and the Senior Silver Triathlon, Lauren Goodridge in the Senior Bronze Free Skate, Carina Demarco in the Junior Bronze Free Skate and the Pre-introductory Interpretive event, and Emma Mondor and Sierra Mercer in the Preliminary Ladies Freeskate.

Lindsay Goodridge placed first in the Silver Ladies Triathlon (includes a creative skill, interpretive and freeskate program) and third in the Senior Silver Ladies Freeskate. Lindsay qualified for the Trillium STARskate event in Kingston, Ontario March 13 to 14 for all her events.

Carina Demarco won a Bronze medal in her interpretive event and placed 8th out of 34 skaters in her freeskate.

Emma Mondor placed first in her flight and qualified for the finals where she placed 4th, qualifying her as an alternative for the Trillium STARskate event in Kingston.

The skaters thank the North Bay and Area Skaters Development fund for their support and their coach Debbie Olivier for her ongoing support and training expertise.
