North Bay’s Fiona Maude has been named to the 2017 National Youth Team that will represent Canada at this years 2017 World Archery Youth Championship in Rosario, Argentina from October 2nd to 8th.

The 19-year-old Chippewa Senior Secondary graduate is currently attending school at Georgian College.

She will be competing in the Junior Female Compound Bow Category with three other Canadian teens.

'I am thrilled to be a part of the 2017 National Team,' said Maude.

"The competition was very tight this year, which was exciting because it forced me to work harder than ever to shoot the scores I needed to secure a spot on the team. This will be my 3rd time on a Canadian Team and that moment when we all stand together, in uniform, representing our country evokes an overwhelming feeling of pride.

"It is exciting to participate in an event of this magnitude. It is an experience you can never replace and I am so proud to share it with this talented group of archers."

Maude is one of three team members that competed in the World Archery Youth Championship back in 2015 in Yankton, South Dakota.

“The minimum performance requirements that were put into place allowed our archers to push themselves in the months leading up to selection," said Marc Gagnon, Archery Canada's Youth Development Coordinator about this year's team including Maude.

"They responded very well and we are presenting a Compound Team that will make heads turn next fall in Rosario.”
