The West Ferris Senior Trojans defeated the Scollard Hall Bears 3-1 last night in a hard fought, well played game by both teams. The win resulted in the Trojans clinching first place with an impressive regular season record of five wins and one tie. The only scoring in the first half took place at the 35:00 minute mark when Bears forward Rocco Cipparrone scored after receiving a perfect pass from Jeff Portuguese. The high scoring Trojan offense stepped it up in the second half with John Gore scoring to tie the game early in the half. Centre forward Doug McCrae scored his 10th of the season to put the Trojans ahead and striker Sandy Burke completed the scoring after receiving a great pass from Gore. The combination of McCrae, Gore and Burke has combined this season to score an unbelievable 23 goals in 6 games. Both keepers were also standouts making a number of key saves to give their teams a chance to win. Sweeper Andrew MacIntosh and centre back Andrew Paibomsai turned in impressive defensive efforts for the Trojans while Ben Carriere anchored a solid Bears’ defense.
