Lakers women take two on the road

Another busy Saturday for Lakers athletics.  
 
In women's hockey, the Lakers picked up their second win of the weekend, beating Waterloo 4-1 this afternoon on the road.
Jetta Derenoski, Teagan Feltz, Brianna Gaffney and Marilyn Fortin all scored, while Danika Ranger made 18 saves for the victory.
 
Next up, Nipissing will host the Windsor Lancers in their home opener Friday at Memorial Gardens. Game time is 11 a.m. in North Bay.
 
Not the same result for the men, as they fell 8-1 on the road to Queens in Kingston. Deverick Ottereyes has the lone Nipissing goal.
NU takes on York and Guelph on the rod next weekend.  
 
On the basketball court, the Lakers women picked up their first win of the season, improving to 1-1, thanks to an 80-58 triumph over the first-year Ontario Tech Ridgebacks.
 
Nipissing will next be in action when they host Windsor next Saturday, Nov. 2 at 6 p,m, at the Surtees Athletic Centre.
 
Meantime the men improved to 1-1 on the season, defeating the Ridgebacks 86-73.
 

Will Tran led the Lakers attack with 21 points, Shandon Ashitei had 17, Quintin Ashitei scored 15 and Justin Hill added 13 in tonight's victory.

Nipissing is back in action next weekend when they host the Windsor Lancers Saturday night.
