Lakers U-15's bring home Bronze

The North Bay Youth Volleyball Club U15 Lakers competed in their first Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) tournament of the season in Orillia November 17 claiming a bronze medal.


The North Bay Youth Volleyball Club U15 Lakers competed in their first Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) tournament of the season in Orillia November 17 claiming a bronze medal.

The Lakers finished first in their pool after defeating the North Simcoe Wolves 25-0, 25-3 and the Barrie Elite's Blue 25-18, 25-20.

The Lakers advanced to the quarter-finals where they met and defeated the host team the Orillia Suns Black
2-0 (25-18, 25-20) to advance to semi-final. In the semis it was an all northern match-up as the Lakers faced a familiar foe in Sudbury’s Northern Chill. The Chill got the best of the Lakers winning in straight sets 25-21, 25-14.

The Lakers would then battle a familiar opponent for the bronze medal as once again they faced the Barrie Elite's Blue.

After dropping the first set 23-25 the Lakers responded with a gritty effort and took the next two sets 25-13, 15-12 to complete the comeback.

Members of the team include: Rebecca Gough, Holly Macie, Alyssa Randall, Jessica Gribbon, Cara Guy, Sabrina St. Jacques, Kennedy Kramp, Alison Brazeau, Emilie Lachance, Karleigh Miness, Kaitlyn Jackson, Megan Stickle and are coached by Gerry Dupelle and Stephen Hong.
