The Nipissing Lakers Varsity Men's Hockey team will hit the ice Saturday night when they take on the Laurentian Voyageurs at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.
Head coach Mike McParland has added more than 10 new recruits this off-season including former OHLer and local product Ben Garagan, who won a Memorial Cup with the Hamilton Bulldogs two years ago.
The team has also added two new assistant coaches in longtime local minor hockey coaches John Couch, Ray Irwin and Miguel Beaudry.
The Lakers regular season starts on October 4 when they travel to Oshawa to face the UOIT Ridgebacks.
