The Nipissing Lakers varsity hockey team takes to the ice on Saturday afternoon as they play a pair of pre-season OUA games on the weekend.

On Saturday at 3:00 p.m. the Lakers take part in the 2nd annual Real Men Wear Pink game as they host the Western Mustangs.

Then on Sunday afternoon North Bay product Cassidy Preston and the York Lions take on the Lakers. Game time once again is 3:00 p.m.

Lakers Head Coach Mike McParland will get a good look at some prospects who may not have been still around if it weren't for a handful of injuries to new recruits Corbin Crawford, Grant McGee along with returnee Matt Lahey.

"It's a good introduction for our new players playing today," said McParland about the weekend competition.

"I think the fans in North Bay are the big winners and get to see best team in Ontario in Western, so it will be a good measuring stick for us. We are still looking to get our roster down and see how some guys play against some of the top schools."

The Western Mustangs roster includes a slate of OHL grads including former Dallas Stars draft pick Aaron Snow.
