The Nipissing Lakers men’s soccer team continues to stay busy this off-season, building towards the 2022 OUA season.

The Lakers have signed a pair of quality recruits, adding Tyler Bradbury and Alexander Domingos to the program.

Both will join the Lakers for next season and begin school in the fall of 2022.

Tyler Bradbury is considered a strong defender who will add stability to the backline for Nipissing.

“I chose Nipissing because of the small class sizes. Nipissing is also known for having a great teaching program,” Bradbury said of the academic side of things at Nipissing.

“On the athletics side, Nipissing is on a great upwards trend. Being competitive in every game last season, I can see Nipissing fighting for OUA titles and I want to be apart of that team.”

Making his way to the Lakers from the Athlete Institute Football Club Academy, Bradbury – who hails from Orangeville  – comes with a strong soccer background which will help with the transition to the OUA.

Lakers head coach Tony D’Agostino said Bradbury’s ability to transition from defence to offence will give the team a boost on the pitch.

“Tyler has an excellent work rate and has a great sense for creating attacking opportunities both with his passing range and ability to make runs from the defensive third,” D’Agostino said.

“Tyler’s eagerness to make attacking runs and his versatility on both offence and defense will make him an important addition for our side.”

A boost for the program in the middle of the field, Domingos will bring an ability to distribute the ball and advance the Lakers attack.

Wrapping up his career with the Oakville Blue Devils before joining the Lakers, Domingos is excited about the next chapter in his soccer career.

“Nipissing University is where I see myself continuing my academic and athletic journey. For me, the beautiful campus and facilities were appealing. I have always wanted to be part of a tight-knit community like Nipissing,” he explained. “I’m excited to play under Coach Tony and will work hard on the pitch and in the classroom.”

The Mississauga native is confident in his skills and abilities. He realizes there is a transition from the club level to the OUA, but he is excited about the challenge and opportunity ahead of him.

“On the pitch, I can be best described as a playmaker with exceptional vision and technical ability. I have a desire to have the ball at my feet and I take pride in using my abilities to make my teammates better with the goal of doing everything I can do to help my team win,” Domingos explained.

“I consider myself to be a two-way player, I have a high work rate, I enjoy chasing back to defend or getting into the box when attacking, and I’m comfortable on the ball when under pressure.”

D’Agostino noted that Domingos’ style will be fun to watch for fans, but will also benefit the team and create problems for the opposition.

D'Agostino believes he will be an asset to the Lakers.

“Alexander is a technical and aggressive player with a wide range of passing abilities in the midfield,” D’Agostino noted.

“His positional awareness and ability to understand the game at a high level will make him a high impact player for us.”
