Patrick Laferriere didn’t let the miserable conditions outdoors impact his performance at NOSSA last week.
The Algonquin Barons athlete set a new record in the senior boys 400 meter hurdles, captured top spot in the senior boys high jump and won gold with teammates Benoit Boulay, Adam Price, and Patrick Dufresne in the 4 x 400 M relay at the NOSSA track and field Championships last week in North Bay.
The Barons as a team finished 3rd overall behind Sudbury’s Lo-Ellen Park Knights and second place finisher Sir James Dunn of Sault Ste. Marie.
Other senior boys highlights included a record setting throw in the Javelin by West Ferris’ Brad Piper, while Chippewa’s Erik Faucon captured top spot in the 100 meter hurdles and in the pole vault.
In Senior Girls, St. Joseph Scollard Hall Bears athlete Alison Loyst set a new record with a heave of 11.05 M in the shot put.
All of the winners will be heading to the OFSAA track and field championships which take place in Toronto starting on Thursday.
