Lady Panthers drop 6-5 decision (new)

SUDBURY — The Golden Shield scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat Canadore College Lady Panthers 6-5 in OCAA Women’s Fastball League action Wednesday.

With the win, Cambrian College improved to 2-4 and the Panthers are now 3-5.

Angela Jonker went the distance for the win and also singled in the tying and winning runs in the eighth.

Brittany Shannon took the loss.

Daphne Debassige had three hits for the winners with Morgan Vine, Sarah Denton and Jonker adding two apiece.

Laura Myers and Teresa Allen had the other hits.

Leigh Anne Taylor had three hits for the Panthers and Stephanie Bourassa added two singles.

Jen Nychuk tripled and Kerri Milne. Lynsey Snowball, Krystal Chartrand, Melissa Cross and Shannon had the other base hits.
