The North Bay Skyhawks fell behind 3-0 in the first period and were unable to recover as they dropped a 4-2 decision at the hands of the Sudbury Jr. Wolves on Wednesday night in Sudbury.

Justin Roy and Jon Drake scored for the Skyhawks in the loss. Skyhawks head coach Darren Turcotte was disappointed as the Skyhawks fall to 0-2 on the season against the Jr. Wolves, however he was pleased with the way his club played 5 on 5 in the road loss.

“I think everybody understands that there are 3 or 4 teams at the top of the league,” said Turcotte.

“We don’t want to lose a season series to anybody but we just have to get down and take a serious look at their powerplay. We need hot goaltending and if we can get the early lead next time perhaps we can change the game a bit.”

Jesse Graham, Brenden Biedermann, Matt Chiupka and Scott Lavigne scored the Wolves. The game also marked the debut for American goaltender Ian Wilson who got the start in goal Wednesday for the Skyhawks. Wilson made 25 stops in the loss.

The Skyhawks remain in second spot in the 7-team league with a record of 7-3. The Junior Wolves remain in first place with a record of 8-3-0-1.
