SUDBURY, ON - The Widdifield Junior Wildcats captured the NOSSA AAA Junior Volleyball title with a 2-0 straight set victory over the Sir James Dunn Eagles from Sault Ste. Marie in the NOSSA championship final at LaSalle Senior Secondary.

The Jr. Cats started off strongly, handing La Salle a two set loss. They followed that up with another win against Sir James Dunn of the Sault. In the last game the junior Wildcats faced Lockerby, with a chance to put them out of NOSSA. They did not disappoint as they served, hit and scored again and again. They had Lockerby on the ropes. Captain Jane Ferguson was able to score at will. Kayla Kosturik and Hailey Stockill played some brilliant defense. After a back and forth second set, the Wildcats won 25-27. As a result of that game and the pervious loss, the Wildcats advanced straight to finals, while Lockerby’s journey in the NOSSA finals was over.

The juniors had a psychological advantage knowing that they defeated Sir James Dunn in the morning with relative ease; and the final was much of the same. The Cat’s passing was very good and the Wildcats were able to score through the middle almost at will. Caitlyn Alyman was able to set up her hitters for big hits all game. The Wildcats won both sets, 25-12 and 25-12. The junior Widdifield Wildcats are NDA and NOSSA Champs, having not lost a game all season.
