The Junior Trojans girl's basketball team bounced the Jr. Barons 31-28 in the consolation final on the weekend at a hoops tournament hosted by Chippewa S.S.

The Junior Lady Trojans were able to bounce back from a sound defeat at the hands of Lockerby S.S. from Sudbury on Friday night. The game was the Trojan's opener in the weekend tournament hosted by the Chippewa Raiders basketball program. The Trojans were able to hold the Lockerby squad that boasts no fewer than three provincial team members to just 8 points int the first quarter, after that it was all Lockerby.

In their next contest the Ladies went up against the Mckenzie Mustangs and playing with some intensity and a full court pressure defense the Trojans went onto a well earned 42-19 victory. Abeba Kitchen led all game scorers with 12 points followed by Aaron Paibomsai with 8 and Rhonda Duncan scored 5 points. Jessica Lepinski led the Mustangs with 6 points. Mckenzie Joyes and Kylie Deschenes continued their torrid defensive and rebounding play. Joyes owned the boards at both ends of the floor in that second game, she wasn't going to give anyone a second opportunity.

The win moved the Trojans into the consolation final against a league rival, the Algonquin Barons.

In the final the Lady Trojans jumped out to a quick lead and finished the half out in front 17-7. The Barons were only able to muster 2 points in the second quarter while the Trojans continued to play sound defence and score. The third quarter saw the Trojans give up a little breathing room as both teams were scoring, the Trojans outscored the Barons 12-10 that quarter and continued to lead at this point by a score of 29-17. In the fourth quarter the Barons came out flying and the the Lady Trojans went a little flat. Unable to score the Trojans saw their lead slowly dwindle as the Barons scored 9 unanswered points in the final frame. Two quick 3's got the Barons to a point where they thought they may come back and win this game, but again the play of Kylie Deschenes on defence was solid and Aaron Paibomsai's timely foul shooting was key in keeping the Trojans out front. On the Barons side Jolinne Maisonneuve was all over the floor pressuring the ball everytime the Trojans came over half. Morgan Mantha played well for the Barons scoring 7 points, followed by Maisonneuve with 6 and Sarah Trottier with 5 points.

The Junior Lady Trojans won the game 31-28 in an exciting finish, top scorers for the Lady Trojans were Mckenzie Joyes 8 and Abeba Kitchen 8 points Aaron Paibomsai with 7 and Kylie Deschenes scored 4.
