Jr. Raiders win Gold Cup Classic

The Chippewa Raiders junior boys basketball team won the championship of the Timmins High Gold Cup Classic this past weekend.
The Chippewa Raiders junior boys basketball team won the championship of the Timmins High Gold Cup Classic this past weekend. The Raiders beat teams from Sudbury and Val D'or in the preliminary rounds to earn a spot in the semi-finals, where they defeated the Theriault Flames 47-22.

In the gold medal game, the Raiders beat Sudbury's Lo-Ellen Park 47-40 to claim the championship.

Chippewa's Shawn Humphrey was named tournament MVP, and Brendan Lafontaine and Matt Nolan earned first-team all-star honours.
