The Junior Lady Trojans travelled to Elliot Lake this weekend and played in the Dairy Queen Blizzard Tournament hosted by the Elliot Lake Secondary School Atoms. The Trojans played 3 games en route to the Championship Final.

First up were the Notre Dame Alouettes from Sudbury. The Trojan squad came out firing on all pistons and downed Notre Dame Friday night. Jen Leckie was chosen as player of the game for the Lady Trojans. In their second match the Trojans faced the Marymount Regals. After a sluggish start the Trojans found themselves trailing 6-2 after the 1st quarter. The girls pulled themselves together and found the scoreboard to take an 11-9 lead into the half. Both teams exchanged leads the rest of the way. The Trojans were unable to score in the dying seconds of the 4th quarter and dropped a very entertaining match to the Regals by just one point as the final was 28-27. Katie Sargent scored 11 points for the Trojans and both Caitlin Meyers and Kally Watmore chipped in with 6 pts. each. The final game of round robin play saw the Lady Trojans match up with the host Atoms. In an exciting fast paced match the West Ferris girls came out on top with a 45-41 victory. Top scorer for that game was Jen Leckie with a season high 14 pts, Katie Sargent chipped in with 11 pts and Kally Watmore 9. Lucy Millar came of the bench to spark the Trojans both defensivly and offensivly with a 7 pt effort.

This win set up a Championship Final appearance for the North Bay team and they were set to play a grudge match with the host Atoms who had earned thier way to the final with victories over Marymount and Notre Dame.

In the final the Trojans came out strong and led the entire way. The Trojans led 22-17 at half due to a 10 pt 1st half performance from Kally Watmore. Team members include :Jessie Rigby, Millar, Leckie, Meyers, Watmore, Jamie Moreau, Sarah Marshall, Mary Stock, Dee Zen, Brittany Inthof and Sargent.
