Jr. Football playoffs go to OT

Barons and Wildcats with key OT victories.

The Widdifield Wildcats scored a touchdown with less than 5 seconds in the fourth quarter and then scored in overtime as they defeated the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears 24-18 in the NDA Jr. Football quarter-finals this afternoon.  

Brandon Matte capped off an amazing four touchdown game scoring both the tying and game winning majors for the Wildcats.  

Adam Courchesne led the Bears with a pair of touchdowns.    

Meantime in another quarter-final, the Algonquin Barons squeaked by the Chippewa Raiders in NDA junior boys football with an exciting 9-6 overtime win.

Raphael Dohoun kicked a 30 yard field goal on the second possession of overtime to give the Barons the win. Dohoun also scored on an interception return for a touchdown for the Barons defense in the second quarter.

The Raiders 6 points came on a 109 yard fumble recovery and return by Ben Fredette.

The Barons defense was lead by Dohoun, Cody Stevens and Tyson Periard. 

The Barons move on to the semi-finals against the West Ferris Trojans this Saturday, October 29th at 2 p.m. at the Steve Omischl Sports Complex.
