The North Bay Junior ‘A’ Trappers went 1 and 1 this weekend in the Soo. The Trappers defeated the Soo Eagles on Friday night by a score of 6-4. Jonathon Aubertin and Michael Bodley had two goals each for the Trappers, while Stan Smrke (1 goal, 2 assists), Sacha Guimond (2 assists), Dan Zawacki (2 assists) and Justin Dicks (1 goal, 1 assists) also put on a great performance.

"We played a good team game," said Head Coach and General Managers Ian Swalucynski. "We moved the puck well and took care of the puck in our own end."

The Trappers traveled back over the border to play the Soo Thunderbirds Saturday night. A few injuries to some key players added up and the Trappers fell 5-1 against the Thunderbirds. The second half of the game saw Dan Zawacki, Adam Marceau and goalie Michael Mitchell sustain injuries which, in turn, had an impact on team momentum.

"When our starting goalie goes down kind of deflated the boys," added Swalucynski "We were down to less than 3 lines so guys were battling and they didn’t quit and we had a great week of hard practice and it paid off just have to keep that up," Zawacki and Marceau’s injuries appear to be minor and they should return to the line-up very soon. Mitchell will be getting an MRI on his injured knee back in his hometown of Thunder Bay this week to see the extent of the injury.
