Huge Ringette tourney set to take the ice this week

Event will draw 63 teams and over 1000 athletes over March Break
ringette

The West Ferris Ringette Association is hosting the provincial ringette championship for four provincial divisions on March 14-17, 2019. The event will draw 63 teams and close to one thousand athletes into the area. Opening games are at 8 a.m. on Thursday, March 14th and the final awards ceremony will follow the last game at 5 pm on Sunday, March 17th.

Tournament highlights include:

8 a.m., Thursday, March 14th, West Ferris Arena 
MPP Vic Fedeli opens the tournament with a brief welcome to the players and officials and a ring drop / free pass to begin the first game of the tournament

7 p.m., Thursday, March 14th, R.J. Surtees Athletic Centre, Nipissing University 
Opening Ceremonies with welcomes from Mayor Al McDonald, Chief Scott McLeod, Nipissing University President Mike DeGagné, Speakers from Ringette Ontario and ringette community, a Parade of Athletes and of alumni players.

8 a.m., Sunday, March 17th, Semi-final Games
Semi-final games begin for each of the eight divisions at 8 a.m. at various arena

12 p.m., Sunday, March 17th, Final Games
Final games begin for each of the eight divisions at 12 p.m. at various arenas with awarding of medals immediately after each game. Three games will determine which teams will move on to represent Ontario at the Eastern Canadian Championships April 18-21st in Oshawa, Ontario. Those games are:

12 p.m., Sunday, March 17th, U19 Jacks Division Final Game
MP Anthony Rota opens the final U19 game of the tournament with a brief welcome to the players and officials and a ring drop / free pass and presents the medals in the awards ceremony.
