There are approximately 15 meets in Ontario per season to accommodate the numbers. Athletes must achieve an average qualifying score at 2 of the 3 meets in order to attend Provincial Championships. The option of a fourth qualifier is available for those who are close after their third meet.

At the Oshawa qualifier, Melanie Nadon-Langlois was the overall champion in the Level 5 (10A yr) category, winning both Bars and Beam. She was the only competitor in her division (out of 14 gymnasts) to meet the qualifying score, exceeding it by a full 1.0 mark.

Pascale Poulin (Level 5 - 10 yrs) walked away with a Gold medal on Uneven Bars in a field of 17 gymnasts. Coach Laura Liberty was approached by the Superior Judge at the competition and told that Pascale's Bar routine is one of the top routines she has seen to date in the province.

Lindsay Jones (Level 5 - 12/13 yrs) also had an successful Uneven Bar routine and received the Silver medal on that event, missing the Gold place finish by 3 tenths.

She achieved the qualifying score at this meet. Teammate Corrine Giorgetti was the most pleased with her 7th place Balance Beam finish. Her performance greatly improved from the first qualifier held in Niagara in January.

Katelyn Palfrey moved up from Level 5 to Level 6 (12/13 yrs) this season and improved her overall score from the first qualifier. She was 8th place on Vault and Beam in a very tough field of 15 competitors.

Tara Alger and Stephanie Carr (Level 7 - 14+ yrs) both competed very well considering the level of competitors in their division. Both girls have moved up from Level 6 to Level 7 this season. Tara had a solid day of routines, placing 6th on both vault and bars. Stephanie's performance on floor was good enough to give her a 5th place.

Caitlin Nelson, who is a former competitor with the Sault Ste. Marie club and currently attending Nipissing University, competes in Level 8. She competed a powerful handspring full twist vault to give her a 4th place finish (out of 10). Caitlin also achieved the qualifying score at this competition.

The girls are coached by Bill Rhoads, Nicki Chretien-Ranney and Laura Liberty. Their next and final qualifier will be held in two weeks in Kingston.

Trampoline Results

While the girls were competing in Oshawa this past weekend, two members of thetrampoline team attended their second qualifier in Ottawa. Head Coach Bill Rhoads
was pleased with the results, stating that both athletes have improved from the first meet. Tabitha Gennoe and Tanner Rhoads are both brand new competitors to the
discipline of trampoline. They will also attend their 3rd qualifier in a few weeks.
