Orangeville - All three Gymtrix gymnasts who attended the First Ontario Qualifier have returned home with hardware and the required provincial qualifying score. Corrine Giorgetti earned a Gold Medal for her Uneven Bar routine in Provincial Level 5 (12/13 yrs). Corrine's solid performances on all four events and particularly her top score on bars, gave her the edge to secure the All Around (all scores combined) Silver Medal. Her overall score was a whopping full mark (1.0) over the score needed to qualify for Ontario Championships.

Also earning a couple of medals, was Lindsay Jones (Level 5 - 14 yrs and over). Lindsay earned a pair of Bronzes on Vault and Uneven Bars. She narrowly missed winning the Bronze on Floor and was 4th All Around.

Stephanie Carr (Level 7-14 yrs. and older), competed better than expected considering she was recovering from a week long bout with pneumonia. After training one light practice on Friday night, she still managed to complete all four events at the competition and win the Silver medal on Vault. She also, attained the required All Around qualifying score.

In Ontario, provincial level gymnasts are assigned three competitions per year and must reach an average of the designated score in two of the meets in order to move forward to Provincial Championships in the Spring. Coaches Bill Rhoads and Nicki Chretien are extremely pleased with this past weekend's results.

"This takes the pressure off," said Rhoads.

"All three girls now have two more opportunities to get the score this season. If the score is reached at their next meet, then we can work new and riskier skills into their routines without worrying about the qualifying score."

Their next qualifying meet is after the holidays in Mississauga.
