Gymtrix athletes bring home 21 medals

OTTAWA - Ten members of the Gymtrix Interclub Women's team competed at the Corona Winterlude Cup in Ottawa this past weekend. Two of the athletes competed in the 7/8 yr old category and received medals for attaining score ranges.
OTTAWA - Ten members of the Gymtrix Interclub Women's team competed at the Corona Winterlude Cup in Ottawa this past weekend.

Two of the athletes competed in the 7/8 yr old category and received medals for attaining score ranges. The other 8 gymnasts competed in Level 3 & 4 categories and combined for a whopping 21 medals.

Kiley Willis (Level 4 - 10/11 yrs) was the top winner of the weekend for the Gymtrix team bringing home 3 Gold medals. She was the overall champion in her category as well as the recipient of Gold for the high scores in both Vault and Beam. Her winning scores on these two events allowed her to easily own the Gold medal overall.

Dani McKnight (Level 3-9/10 yrs) also had an outstanding meet earning a total of 5 medals. She captured Gold medals on Bars and Beam and triple Bronzes on Vault, Floor and overall.

In the Level 4-9 yrs. category, Vanessa Gagnon also walked away with 5 medals. She vaulted her way to a Gold medal finish and had a clean sweep of Silvers on Bars, Beam, Floor and overall.

Four teammates of Kiley's also competed in the Level 4 - 10/11 yrs category.

Taylor Jones was the recipient of 4 medals over the weekend. She easily walked away with a Gold medal on Uneven Bars. She was the Silver medalist on Vault and she then went on to dance her way to a Bronze medal on Floor. Her strong placings on her individual events helped her also finish with the Bronze medal Overall. Taylor was also the recipient of the special Judge's Award for "Outstanding Rhythm and Tempo on Balance Beam."

Also competing in this category, was Genna Giorgetti who performed a flawless Gold medal Floor routine. Genna's Beam routine was executed well enough to also earn her a Bronze medal on that event.

Brooklyn Glass brought home a Silver medal for her Uneven Bar routine. She also finished 7th on Floor.

Siggy Busch (Level 4 - 12/13 yrs) performed the second best vault in her category, earning her the Silver medal. Siggy also had 4th place finishes on Beam, Floor and overall.

The two youngest members of the team competed in the Level 2 (7/8 yrs) category. In these age categories, gymnasts are awarded placings based on score ranges. Jasmine Beatty and Mikeala Guillemette both earned silver medals for their Overall performances. On the individual events, both girls received Gold placings on Uneven Bars, Silvers on Beam and Floor, and Bronzes on Vault.

The Interclub Girls team is coached by Bill Rhoads, Laura Liberty and Nicki Chretien-Ranney. The next Invitational for the Interclub team will be Muskoka Classic in March.
