Great year for Gymtrix athletes

Members of North Bay Gymtrix trampoline, women’s artistic and men’s artistic elite teams, finished the 2004 season with the best rankings to date for the club.

The club has made the leap to National Stream in two disciplines and the athletes have ‘stepped up to the plate’ and finished the season with incredible results.

Members of the Gymtrix ‘Elite’ team:

Men’s Artistic

Shayn Karn and Mitchell Kenzie-Klus were both selected to represent the region at the Ontario Winter Games in London. Both boys have made the jump from provincial 3 to provincial 4, which in itself, is a great accomplishment. The boys are coached by Colleen Grieve-Saunders.

Women’s Trampoline

Melissa Drouin, a former artistic competitor, competed for the first time in trampoline and captured the provincial championship for Level 1 provincial, 15 years and over. Drouin, along with teammate Jenna Hebert, represented Ontario at the Eastern Canadian championships in Montreal, taking team gold for Ontario.

Men’s Trampoline

Tramplinist Bourton Scott jumped from provincial stream last season, to novice national this year. He qualified for the national championships and received a national silver medal for his compulsory routine.

The trampolinists are coached by Jeff Marceau.

Women’s Artistic

Robyn Grigg, competing for the first time in the artistic national stream, qualified for Team Ontario competing at the Eastern Canadian championships in Montreal, earlier this season. She brought home gold medals on both floor and vault, and finished with a bronze overall. She was also a member of the top place, gold. Team Ontario.

Her sister Erin, also competing for the first time in the national stream, qualified for the Canadian championships in Mississauga and captured a national bronze medal for her vault and was a member of the gold medal Team Ontario.

The Artistic girls are coached by Bill Rhoads and Nicki Chretien-Ranney.
