Good weekend for Wildcats

The Widdifield Wildcats traveled to Toronto to participate in the Danforth Senior Boys volleyball tournament. The Cats opened up pool play against Riverdale and lost two straight 22-25 and 22-25.

The Cats opened up pool play against Riverdale and lost two straight 22-25 and 22-25. The second game in pool play pitted the Cats against Midland, beating them 25-22 and 25-16.

To end pool play, the Cats split with
Southwood (a Quad A team) 26-24 and 24-26 putting the cats 3rd in their pool.

In the quarterfinals the Cats faced off against Cardinal Newman beating them 25-1 and 25-19. This placed the cats against the host school Danforth.

The Cats silenced the fired up crowd in the first set winning 25-20, then lost 25-18 in the second set.

However the Cats eliminated them in third set 15-8.

This moved the cats into the finals in a re-match against Southwood, who placed first in their pool.

In a tough final match they lost two straight 25-19, 25-20.

It was a good weekend for the Wildcats, particularly Dillan Zajac and Kory Crawford.

Other team members include Coach Danny Gossellin, Dave Hennessy, Ben Biffis, Wes Patterson, Bobby Atkins, Jason Duhaime, and Jesse Gardner.
