Gold Diggers win Slo-Pitch Tourney

École secondaire Franco-Cité’s 2nd annual friendship slo-pitch tournament was a great success on Thursday in Sturgeon Falls. Eight area teams participated in the one day tournament. The Blue Jays division was comprised of FJ McElligott’s Blue Thunder, les Patriotes de l’École secondaire Franco-Cité, Northern Secondary School Braves and Widdifield Wildcats. Les grenouilles de l’École secondaire Franco-Cité, FJ McElligott’s Gold Diggers, les Muskies de Rivière-des-Français and École secondaire Odysée made up the Expos division.

Les Muskies de Rivière-des-Français beat the Northern Braves to claim the consolation championship. Meanwhile, FJ McElligott’s Gold Diggers made up for an earlier round robin loss by beating les grenouilles de Franco-Cité 15-14 in extra innings.
