GMHL - Titans close out regular season

The Temiscaming Titans ended their 2012/13 GMHL season the same way it began, with three games in three days. Things didn't start off well as the Titans dropped a 7-6 decision to the Bradford Bulls Friday night at the Centre.

Things didn't start off well as the Titans dropped a 7-6 decision to the Bradford Bulls Friday night at the Centre.

Saturday morning they hit the road for a couple of games. Saturday evening against the Toronto Attack and then ending it off with a Sunday 5pm start in Bracebridge against the 3rd place Phantoms.

The Titans completed the sweep of the road games with a 6-5 win over the Attack then followed that with another win versus the Phantoms 7-5.

Friday the Titans outshot the visitors 63-31 but still ended up with the short end of 7-6 setback at the hands of the Bulls.

Tyler Miller led the Titans with a pair of goals while Justin Norris, Marc-Alain Begin, Ashton Haley and Ryder Murray rounded the scoring.

Aaron Boyce started but was replaced at the start of the second by Simon Gaudet, who took the loss.

Saturday morning the Titans boarded their coach bus and headed towards Toronto for an encounter with the Attack Saturday evening.

The Titans skated to 6-5 victory over the Toronto team. Six different players chipped in on the goal production.

Justin Norris, Francis Beauregard, Tyler MIller, Marc-Alain Begin, Elliot Willetts and Ashton Haley were the goal scorers.

Norris with his three point night went over the 100 point plateau and solidified his second place position behind Gallo from the Rattlers.

Sunday afternoon at 5pm the Titans played their last game of the regular season against the Bracebridge Phantoms.

The game lasted almost three hours due to the number of penalties called.

A total of 107 minutes in penalties were handed out with Bracebridge taking a 59 of the 107.

Even with the interruptions, the teams combined for 12 goals.

The Titans goals were by Byron Katapaytuk with two, who also had 2 assists.

Tyler Miller also had a pair while other goals came from Nicolas Fournier, Marc-Alain Begin & Ashton Haley. Jonathan Goulet earned the victory.

The Titans now entertain the Mattawa Voyageurs in the first round of the playoffs. Game #1 is set for Thursday Feb 21st, game time is 8:30pm. Game #2 is Friday also in Temiscaming at 8pm. Games #3 and 4 are scheduled in Mattawa.
