Former Minor Midget AA Trappers defenceman Darian Skeoch was invited the Anaheim Ducks NHL Development camp which started on Thursday.

Skeoch finished off his first season with the Western Hockey League’s Lethbridge Hurricanes with one goal and six assists in 59 games along with a +7 rating and 106 penalty minutes in 2015-16.

“Getting an invite to the [Ducks] camp, I’m just extremely excited and honoured to be going. I thought it was a really good fit, I think Anaheim was probably the best fit for me,” said Skeoch on the Lethbridge Hurricanes website.

“I’m just going to go in and just try to show them my style of play, keep it simple and play a physical game. I think it’ll help my confidence."

Skeoch, was a 14th round pick of the North Bay Battalion in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection and was released to the Hurricanes after the family re-located to Calgary in the summer of 2015.

The hulking New Liskeard native played two seasons in North Bay, one with the Minor Midget AA Trappers in 2012-13 and then played the final year of the North Bay Jr. Trappers franchise in 2013-14 where he contributed two goals and nine assists for 11 points in 54 games.
