The Bears captured their 10th American Hockey League Championship with a 4-1 win over the Manitoba Moose in game 6 of the AHL finals in Winnipeg on Friday - the same night the Stanley Cup was delivered to the Penguins.

French, an assistant coach with the Bears, also was named an assistant coach for the AHL All-Star game this season.

Before joining the Bears in '07, French worked two seasons with the Wichita Thunder (CHL) as head coach and director of hockey operations.

French was an assistant coach for the Cents from 1999 to 2000 under head coach Mike Kelly.

French is married North Bay native Kim Beaudry-French.
