The Lady Panthers fell 3-0 tonight vs. the Fanshawe Falcons (20-25, 12-25, 16-25). The first set was a closely contested one with the Falcons pulling away with the win in the end. The Panthers came out flat in the second set and the Falcons dominated winning 25-12. The Panthers seemed to wake up part way through the third set but it was too late and Fanshawe finished the match by winning the set 25-16.

“We struggled with the pace of the game tonight," team captain Sophie Rocheleau said after the loss.

"There were moments of greatness but we need to work on staying mentally strong the entire match. On the positive side, we did transfer a lot of the skills we learned in practice this week to the game."

Top performers for the Falcons were Amy Smith (14 kills, 1 service ace) and Stephanie Femia (6 kills, 2 aces). The Panthers top performer was Tiffany Fleming (4 kills, 1 stuff block, 1 ace).

The Men’s match saw Fanshawe continue their domination of the Panthers as they won 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-20).

“We were right there with the 5th ranked team in Canada,” said Panther coach Craig Ash.

“We still have a few mental obstacles to overcome and I am anticipating a great match against Sheridan Friday (Nov 25).”

The top performer from Fanshawe was Justin Guerin with 17 offensive points (12 kills, 5 aces). The Panthers had three players contribute 7 point performances (Jeremy Tremblay, Peter Clifford and Andre Guindon).

The Panthers have two matches next weekend, Friday, Nov. 25th against the Sheridan Bruins and Saturday, Nov. 26th versus the Humber Hawks. The Women’s games begin at 6 p.m. with the Men’s games at 8 p.m.
