Eskis blast Royals to complete weekend sweep

IROQUOIS FALLS, ON - The Temiscaming Royals continue to search for their elusive first win on 2010 as they were beaten soundly 8-2 by the Abitibi Eskimos at the Jus Jordan arena Saturday night.

The Eskis built up a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes and increased it to 5-1 by the second intermission.

Benoit Gauthier led the Eskis offence with 2 goals and 1 assist, while Marc-Alain Begin registered 1 goal and 2 assists in the win.

Joshua Clancy, Justin Lafleur, Joel Roy, Maxime St. Pierre and Olivier Morin did the rest of the scoring for the NOJHL East leaders.

Shane Golden and Andre Leclair scored for the Royals.

Jim Murray made 35 saves in the loss for the Royals, stoppimg 86 shots in the home-and-home series which started with a 5-1 Eskis win in Temiscaming Friday night.

With the loss the Royals fall to 0-9-1 in their last 10 and on Saturday coach Steve McCharles only iced 13 skaters in the contest.
