Emery a Durham College MVP

OSHAWA, ON. – Durham College women’s basketball star and North Bay native Erin Emery was recognized and awarded for both her work on the court and in the classroom at the 39th Annual Durham College Athletic Banquet.
OSHAWA, ON. – Durham College women’s basketball star and North Bay native Erin Emery was recognized and awarded for both her work on the court and in the classroom at the 39th Annual Durham College Athletic Banquet. Emery earned the MVP award of the women’s basketball program as well as the CCAA Academic All-Canadian Award for reaching both all-star and honours status. The announcement was made on Friday, April 3rd at the 39th Annual Durham College Athletic Banquet with over 200 people in attendance at the Trillium Trails banquet hall in Oshawa.

Emery, a second year student currently enrolled in the firefighting program, had a great sophomore season as the captain of the women’s basketball team. Emery was named an OCAA All-Star for the second year in a row and led the Lords in several categories this season. She averaged a team best 12.07 points per game and total points with 169 on the year. Emery proved to be a force both offensively and defensively as she led the team in steals with 44 and was very active on the boards, collecting 74 during the regular season. Emery showed fierce determination all year long driving to the bucket and while also leading the team in both free throw attempts and makes.
