CT33 Thunderbirds break records at Barrie Aquafest

Barrie, ON - CT33 Thunderbirds competed November 2nd to 4th at the 2018 Barrie Aquafest.  This Swim Ontario Sanctioned event was hosted by the Barrie Trojan Swim Club at the East Bayfield Community Centre.  This was an open age group meet where 12-year-olds and under swam timed finals and 13-year-olds and older swam heats and finals where the top 16 swimmers advanced to finals.

Ten-year-old Owen Baas broke five club records in the 100 metre Backstroke, 100m Butterfly, 100m Medley, 200m Freestyle and 400m Freestyle event. The 100m Backstroke record was from 2003.  His performance yielded 4 first place and 2 second place finishes.

Evan Kilroy, 16, broke two club records in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke events.  Kilroy earned top three placements with his performance.

Trael Daly Stevens, 15, broke the 200m Freestyle club record while earning five first place finishes at the event. 

Jenna Wall, 14, broke the club record for the 100m Breaststroke and earned 2 first place finishes.

Other T-Birds with first place finishes are Timothy Corbeil, 12, Ashley Girard, 18 and Peyton Paralovos, 12.

Team members achieving top three finishes are Robby Baas, 11, Fia Diorio, 12, Sheldon Kilroy ,14, and  Brody Marietti, 14.

Samuel Denomme, 15, Grace Hong, 12, Emilia Lainevool, 15, Ayden Michaud, 15, Cole Paralovos, 16, Jaiden Paralovos, 14, Madilyn Reaume, 11, Isabella Trottier, 10, and Gavin Wall, 13, achieved top 8 placements at the event. 

Personal best times were achieved by most swimmers with special mention to Abigail Betsill, 11, Myles Denomme, 11, Sydney Doidge, 14, Annika Lainevool, 13, Rachelle Ouellette, 15, Ryleigh Paralovos, 11 and Katie Sefton, 15. 

Parent volunteer, Craig Paralovos, recently received certification as a Level III Official.  Some of the elements required to achieve Level III include completing 8 clinics, being successfully evaluated in 5 or more positions at least 2 times as well as conducting and instructing new officials.  The Thunderbird team congratulates Craig on this achievement.

North Bay coaches Pierre Simard, Penny Lecour, Hillar Lainevool and Elle Louise George said they were pleased with the results from the meet and the success and growth of all swimmers.
