Coach4food on the home stretch

With one day remaining, another practice completed, and a few surprise donations, Tom Hedican's 2007 Coach4Food fundraiser for the North Bay Food bank has cracked the 17,000-pound mark. The West Ferris Midget AA Jr. Skyhawks Midget hockey team, sponsored by Dave Lamothe of Carte Blanche Promotional Products Inc., added 587 pounds at their practice. Along with that, cash donations by E & J Toner, Herb and Joanne Shoveller, and the staff of TD Canada Trust on Cassells, added another 320 pounds for a new total of 17,119 pounds.

Last year, the fundraiser brought in 5,029 pounds (2.5 tons) for the North Bay Food Bank. There are two more practices to go before this year's total is announced Monday.
