Chippewa Graduate Adam Nicolson was selected eighth overall in the CFL Canadian Draft by the defending Grey Cup champion B.C. Lions Wednesday at the event held in Toronto.

Nicolson was a conference All-Star in 2005 and 2006 with the Ottawa Gee-Gee's and was named the club's offensive player of the year in 2006.

In seven games last year Nicolson hauled in 45 passes for 727 yards and three touchdowns.

CFL analyst and former CFLer Duane Ford considered the North Bay native to be a "second tier" player from the top end of this year's CFL Canadian Draft.

"He has the four S’s...size, strength, speed and skill," Forde said in his Draft Insight and Analysis on the CFL.ca website.

Meantime another draft analyst believes Nicolson has the potential to be a game breaker.

"His athleticism, toughness and size make him a receiver to always worry about. He is a play maker that can always change the outcome of the game if his number is called upon. He also is a very smart football player who understands and applies the concepts he is taught." stated a scout on the CFL.ca website.

Nicolson played locally for the Chippewa Raiders during his high school days. He was also a member North Bay Bulldogs.
