Scott Rancourt, Davis Evans and Zeeyana Laplante picked up three gold medals July 18/19 as the North Bay Canoe Club competed in Carleton Place while Skyler Graham, Regan Jackson and Jeremy Robinson picked up three silvers apiece.

The Club had its best showing in years at the Carleton Place Canoe Club’s 115th annual Regatta collecting over 75 medals. The highlight of the day was the Bantam Boys war canoe and their strong second place finish.

Other Gold medalists included, Meghan Johnson, Tania Gagnon, Danica Gagnon (K-2 and K-4), Zaffia Laplante (K-1) , Adam Arthurs (C-1), Bradley Piche, Jacob Hotten and Justin Rancourt (K-2) and Gavin McGirr (C-4).

Silver medalists included Will McFarlane (C-1), Julia Morris, Carla While (K-2 and K-4), Clayton Piche, Rory Pecore, Zach Pecore (C-4, K-2) and Spencer Smith and Noah Swain (C-4, K-1)

Bronze medalists included Dean James (C-1, C-4), Justin Rancourt (K-1), Monika Hotson (K-1, K-4) while newcomer Danielle Zhoo rounded out the medal count with strong performances in K-1 and K-4.

Mathew Robinson and Casey Walsh showed great promise in the Midget category by turning in silver medal finishes in the K-2 and K-4 events. Marc Robinson turned in a surprising result in the Commodore’s Cup race with a solid fourth place finish.

Coaches Ben Robitaille, Emily Morin and Louis Phillipe Samson were pleased with every athlete’s performance and are looking forward to the Club’s own Regatta which is being held August 1st at Olmstead Beach.
